WARNING: You may proceed but only with a mind open to beauty and wonder. Leave all other possessions, baggage, and preconceived perceptions of reality at the door.

Random from paintings

WARNING: Exposure to extreme levels of inspiration can often produce varying responses including butterfly flutters, gut-wrenching emotion, shortness of breath, and boggling of mind. Proceed with caution.

WARNING: This collection contains images that may or may not adorn my interior walls presently or in the future. Proceed only if you want to know what kind of deviousness I'll be spending my hard-earned dough on.*

*I also accept gifts in exchange for my overall awesomesauceness and panache.

How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
There've been so many deviants who've made an impact, either by being an inspiration or a friend, or both. I'm hard pressed to name just one, but I'd like to pay tribute to one who's no longer with us, batoruco He was one of the first people I met on DA who was also using Apophysis and we had many talks about fractals, which eventually led us to join up with another fractal pioneer, onebadpenny to create a group just for fellow Apo lovers. He encouraged so many in the fractal community, myself included. Although we never met face to face, he was a true friend, and he is missed dearly.

What are your preferred tools to create art?
  Apophysis/Chaotica/Super Sculpey

What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
  My head.

What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
  FractalNazi. 'Nuff said.

I am quite proud to say that I did not use paint. I did use a glaze for polymer clay in some places.
The baby bird's head is so small, I had to stick it on the head of a small nail to work with it.

See it in the works from beginning to end here: Cargo Cult WIP

And now a bit of description:
I've been thinking about this one for a long while, wanting to do something around the idea of birds collecting found objects. Then Michael introduced me to the 1980 movie, The Gods Must Be Crazy (did you know that the rhino is the self appointed fire prevention officer? When he sees a fire, he rushes in and stamps it out LOL) and so I learned about Cargo Cult.

Here we have two scenes, the bird with her adopted "found" baby (removable) and a birds-eye-view of the nest scene. She is a collector of shiny and strange objects. She's easily confused and distracted, one might even say she's a bit of a bird-brain. Perhaps it has something to do with the toxic air she breathes. I hope she hears the cries of her real babies before it's too late for them.

But she's a bad mom, so I wouldn't count on it.

For 10+ years, it's been my pleasure to contribute to the fractal community with resources, tutorials, and administration work behind the scenes. Now I'm entering a phase in my career where I'm earning more from my traditional paintings and sculptures so lately, I create fractal art more for my own entertainment and relaxation than for the enjoyment of others. If you happen to find art in my gallery beautiful or symbolic, that's a bonus! If you like it, feel free to add it to your collection. :)

It's hard to express the gratitude and appreciation I have for all of you in the community who have taken the time to comment or befriend me. Though I'm sincerely thankful, I do realize that time is short and precious, and I would rather you spend your time here at dA looking through the FRACTALS of budding artists - please go out and encourage them with your kind words as you have treated me so kindly. This is why I'm turning off comments for the fractals I share from here on out. Want to chat about Apophysis or inquire about using a fractal for your project, please send me a PM or find me at:
