Fragile - In process

First, I soak the watercolor paper and stretch it over a board. Sometimes I let it dry first, sometimes I put a light wash of color and let it dry. Then I come back and lay down a darker wash in other colors and cover it with plastic wrap until it dries again. That's what makes the incidental shapes, creases and lines.

Once I have my background (here I made 2 5x7" pieces from the same sheet), I can start inking. I use watercolor pencils and ink to fill it in.
